North Jetty Replacement Concept
In June 2020, access to the North Jetty was closed by Parks Victoria due to safety concerns. In response, the WNBC developed a submission to the Victorian Government outlining the impact this closure has on club operations. A copy of the submission is available on this website.
Interactions since then with local State and Federal Members of Parliament as well as the Ministers of and officials from the various Victorian Departments and Statutory Authorities involved have been ongoing.
In April 2021, Better Boating Victoria was commissioned to develop a Warneet Boating Precinct Plan to guide future planning and investment. The following paragraphs have been extracted in-part from the Precinct Plan Brief.
What is a Precinct Plan?
· a high-level plan which defines a vision and strategic direction for ongoing and future development within a defined precinct; and
· a guide to developing new and improved assets and areas within the precinct.
What does a Precinct Plan do?
· sets out priorities as identified by asset managers and the community;
· identifies a partnership between agencies and the community; and
· empowers and brings the Government and community together in a shared goal.
What will the Precinct Plan involve?
Better Boating Victoria has engaged outsourced expertise to facilitate and develop the Warneet Boating Precinct Plan. The scope of the work includes:
Site Assessment:
Identify and understand the function of boating and maritime assets including boat ramp, car park, jetties and moorings.
Consultation:
Hold workshops with key stakeholders and members of the community.
Draft Warneet Boating Precinct Plan:
Develop a draft plan and present it to stakeholders and community for comment.
Develop Final Warneet Boating Precinct Plan
Prepare the final Precinct Plan based on comment.
